At a general level consensus building is about getting a convergence of views on a particular topic or issue. The process for building consensus involves
• identifying issues and collecting data about them;
• raising awareness about these issues with interested parties;
• encouraging further debate about these issues;
• by focusing, but not controlling, this debate try to arrive at some conclusions that can be presented as an agreed, consensual viewpoint;
• Somehow these consensual views should lead to some action for which Elegant Innovations can be a facilitator.

This process is iterative as Elegant Innovations then uses the results from one round of consensus building as the basis for the next round of the consensus process.

The keys to the success of the consensus building process are publicity and participation. Publicity so that the message gets to as many people as possible and participation so that the message is representative of the diversity of opinion on any issues and there is continued involvement in the various iterations of the consensus building process.
